Another Beautiful Day

We woke to another P.O.P. day here in Miami Beach.  Beautiful morning and another boat joined us in our little private anchorage.  We have been fortunate to have been here for 11 days with no other boats, just us and the zillionaires!

We walked over 5 miles down Miami Beach and back on the streets the day before yesterday we saw all of the lifeguard stations on the way, they are my favorite part of the beach.  We really hoofed it for about 2 miles because we saw a tug and barge on the Atlantic making its way to Government Cut.  Unfortunately it was faster than us and we didn't make the cut in time to see it, but boy did we get a cardiac workout.  Tomorrow we hope to get down to the cut to see the cruise ships leave.

We are getting WAY more exercise on this boat than we got at home that is for sure!!!! We stumbled on The New World Symphony Center in our walk on Thursday.  It is America's Orchestral Academy.  Their mission is to train the brightest music students in the country for leading positions in America's orchestras.  If you want to read more go to www.NWS.edu.

Yesterday we took the day off of our feet and rode in the dinghy North around the North Beach end.  More spectacular homes along the way....after returning and researching a little I found out that we had passed Matt Damon's house, Barry and Robin Gibbs houses, Don Shula's house and countless other of the rich and famous I am sure.  One of the houses had 4 boats out front, and I highly doubt they were "renting" out space!

Several observation we have made on treks, is that Miamian's love their Mini Coopers and Vespa's....they're everywhere! Also the 3 main drags through South Beach are wall to wall tourists, but if you hit the back and side streets you'll see where the locals live in the numerous small condo buildings and the very few single family homes.  We also found that where South Beach is hotels, in North Beach all the skyscrapers on the beach seem to be condo's.
Today we are going to the library (just for something to do) and provisioning at Publix.  We are leaving Monday morning for our trek up the coast.  We were advised not to travel the ICW on the weekend, too much traffic especially around Fort Lauderdale.
