Saturday thru Monday

Let's play catch up...

Last Friday we spent a day exploring Cumberland Island National Seashore with Gwen & Walter from Salt Shaker, it is the MOST beautiful place.  Totally unspoiled with beautiful Live Oaks and palmettos everywhere.  We saw probably 30-40 of the wild horses that inhabit the island and quite a few foals.  They just go about their business grazing and you can get pretty close to them without them caring.

We walked the beautiful deserted beach on Cumberland.  We passed a large crowd of young campers coming in on the ferry as we left Friday afternoon.  PARTY TIME...we'll miss it, darn.

Lunch time for the toddler

I was THIS CLOSE to this horse and I was totally ignored!  She didn't even look my way.

Natural Beauty

The South Georgia Marshes ....early morning...they are so peaceful and beautiful but they are also home to the dreaded horse fly.  Last time through here in the spring they were biting indiscriminately , this time they decided to focus on whoever happened to be piloting the boat, which was usually Gary and he has totally honed his fly swatting skills.....

BEHOLD OUR FLY CEMETERY....day one, and two, and three, etc.  Sooner or later they'll give up on us....we are warriors!!

So.....  since Friday we have traveled 245 miles.  Running 8-9 hours a day, fighting currents and tides. We have anchored in Teakettle Creek, Bull Creek, and the Ashepoo River.  (Gotta love the names).  We got a small amount of fuel and a pump out  in Brunswick yesterday, the fuel is cheaper near Myrtle Beach so we will fill up there.
Last night in the Ashepoo River we got a great spot around 6pm.  (We are always trying to push the envelope) and then at 7 we sat on the back deck in a heavy rain storm to eat dinner and call it a day.  Five games of UNO later Gary is still "the man"....about 1500 points ahead of me.
A much deserved break after a long day of running.

An interesting end to the day don't you think?  We dodged the storms for the last day and a half but not this time!!

ONWARD!!!
