Twelve Days

In the last 12 days we have:
Driven to Fort Lauderdale (twice)
Crossed the state to Naples
Visited Cory Jessica and our new grand dog Kingston

Driven north to Punta Gorda to visit my parents:

Headed further north to Tampa to see the grand kids....

drove back across the state to Merritt Island and the boat.

I feel like I did 2 years ago when we crisscrossed the Chesapeake over and over!!!

We made a decision on the generator (FINALLY).  Gary really wanted to get the $$$$$ new one, but had decided that if we could find a used manifold to replace this:

The generator people said this was toast..so after a frustrating week of unreturned phone calls we drove to Fort Lauderdale to a 10,000 square foot Marine Surplus dealer and in 15 minutes were back on the road with the manifold we needed.  Our lucky, lucky day....
We're talking $350. (plus gas) versus $8,000. (and a heart attack!)

The bane of Gary's existence...actually it should be a picture of the boat!  Tending a 27 year old boat is just trading one problem for another on a continuing basis!  He installed the manifold today, started the genny up and she will now live to see (hopefully) many more days.

Oh yes, and let us not forget.......

  1. It is great that you found a replacement manifold. We hope that you will get another life out of the genset. Safe travels
