The Past Week

A very interesting one, that is for sure.  As you remember we were seesawing between putting up with the old frig or overlooking the cost issue and buying a new one.  Well, unusual as it may seem (ha) the decision was made for us.  After a couple of days of getting up in the middle of the night to turn it on and off because it suddenly decided to run 24 hours a day, it decided it had had enough and stopped cooling.  Mind you this happened a 7pm which led to a trip to the gas station to get ice, which in turn lead to Gary to try and carry three bags of ice on his bike.  This led to the bags of ice swinging on the handle bars, the bike careening back and forth and to make the story short, he did not get hit by a car coming across 5 lanes of US1 but it was close and the ice did have a lot of dirt on it when he got back so I am assuming there was some loss of control somewhere.

But....we did load the frig with ice for the night.  Now we are living out of a cooler, eating our now thawed meats as quick as we can.  A study in gluttony!  What could have lasted us a week or more is now to be consumed in 4 days. The sad part is the ice cream didn't make it!!!!  Our new frig is to get here on Tuesday.  That will be an entirely new story  removing the old from the boat and getting the new one on board.  On the bright side, without the frig running the batteries have been staying charged with very little running of the generator, and EVERYONE in here seems to be having one problem or another.  We were having cocktails with the couple off of Walk-A-Bout (sailboat from Minnesota) last night and we decided since we all started having problems upon arrival, .  The poor people who don't have a "Gary" on board have to pay the local boat guru's $90-$100 dollars an hour to diagnose their problems, we decided  they must be zapping us all as we come under the bridge.

We have had beautiful weather this week, it has been very calm and warm.  Ooohh,  that made me stop and think.  If we had been where you all are, we could have just emptied the frig outside and everything would've been fine and dandy!  Naah.....we'll make the ice runs!

I did make it to Yoga one day of the tree this week.  I think they had 52 that day.  It never looks like that many but someone is counting.  I also saw a Cormorant trying desperately to figure out how in the heck he was going to eat that fish he landed.  They sure do have eyes bigger than their gullets.  He tossed it around for about 3 minutes before diving below the surface.  Maybe he was playing catch and release.

I  went to a friends boat yesterday and made a quilt square.  Colleen has her sewing machine here and she is an avid quilter.  I haven't quilted in over 15 years, but with her expert help I did a pretty good job.  It was a lot of fun!
