Super Sunday

Last night was Super Bowl Sunday and of course the cruisers had a party.  Big screen projection TV and all.  There were over 100 people and it is a good thing football is a visual game because the noise from the viewers drowned out anything coming from the TV.  We basically just sat and watched the game with our cooler and snacks,  it was fun but we missed the crowd from Algonac that we have spent the last 10 or so years with on Super Bowl.  Seems maybe change is not always good!

This morning I woke up at 6:00 to sounds that woke me up yesterday morning also.  First it sounds like birds calling then it sounds like heavy breathing and gasping around the boat and the water is moving.  I got up to see what it was this morning.  It was still dark and hard to see but I did see a swirl in the water off to starboard.  I decided my previous thought of manatee was probably right.  Then after the sun came up the Dolphin started to surface and they were running in pods of 4 and more.  So now I am undecided again.  A pod of Dolphins probably could have made a collective sound that sounded more like a larger mammal and would move the water more also.

I am still amazed by the amount of garbage we are generating.  Every day it seems to be 2-3 small bags.  This is going to be a real problem when we are out of "the comfort zone", where garbage is easily disposed  of.  I think the grocery stores are part of the problem as it seems that everything we buy is packaged in styrofoam and cellophane.  I talked to another cruiser who has been doing this for 7 years all over South America, and she said they don't have this problem anywhere but in the states.  She buys, repackages, and disposes all larger containers before they haul anchor.  Another lesson to learn.
